Mumbai already has a headstart over many cities in the power of its financial structures, the quality, diversity and qualifications of its professionals; its port, transport and communication links, its prosperous hinterland, even its geographical location and time zone. Making the most of the advantages while dealing with the obstacles is a task that throws up innumerable challenges.

Thus, the thrust areas identified are : Financial Services, Transport, Land Use & Housing, Health Environment and Research. Bombay First has set up five expert committees which have crystallized a set of practical proposals. There have been positive responses at high level meetings with concerned authorities in the Central and State Governments.
